Get set for a scorching summer

Your mind might be wandering towards summer: outdoor entertaining, lazing in the sun, chilling by the pool. But before you get too wrapped up in all this sunny season daydreaming, there are a few practical steps you can take to ensure summer lives up to your expectations. We have a few ways you can make a scorching summer safer, stress-free, and much more fun.

Clean your gutters and downpipes: Leaves and debris can clog gutters over the winter months, so one of your first jobs is to get rid of that accumulated litter. By unblocking gutters and cleaning downpipes, you’ll avoid overflowing gutters and subsequent surface flooding during summer storms.

Check your taps and pipes: The cold winter months can take their toll on taps and pipes especially outdoor ones that bear the brunt of unforgiving frosts. Leaky taps and burst pipes might occur as a result. As you don’t want any of these things to happen at any time, especially during summer when water conservation is top of mind, it’s a good idea to ask us to check your taps and pipes before summer.

Turn down the heat: Does your water temperature really need to be quite so high over summer? Steaming hot showers will hardly be top of your list of priorities when the weather is warm, so you can save a few dollars on your heating bill by lowering the temperature on your hot water system for the summer months.

A patchy issue: During dry weather, it’s easier to see wet patches on an otherwise moisture-free lawn. These patches might indicate a water leak or drainage issue, and it’s one that might have been brewing for some time and about to cause some major damage. So, we think it’s a good idea to inspect your dry lawn for damp spots, or even patches of green grass which look like an oasis amidst all that brown grass; this is another indicator of potential leaks or drainage problems. If your inspection does reveal that something might not be quite right, let us know and we can fix things up before they come to a head.

Actually, even if you don’t have a damp patch on your dry lawn, we reckon you should call us anyway! At this time of year, you need to strike a happy balance between conserving water and having enough to stay hydrated and cool. We can help you do that. For example, we can come to your place and do a pre-summer plumbing check. It might include:

  • Leak detection
  • Ensuring taps are running correctly
  • Checking for correct water pressure
  • Inspecting drains for blockages
  • Installing a garen sprinkler service

By checking things like that before summer arrives, you can relax during the holiday season and do all the outdoor entertaining, lazing in the sun, and chilling by the pool that you want. So, call us now and let’s get you set for summer!
